One Hundred Days

The boys celebrated the 100th day of school yesterday. The school requested that the children all dress up like little old men & women. I think we did a pretty good job. They sure were handsome little old men. :)

I told them to give me their best "old man" face. Ha!

January

January is the most boring, slow-paced month of the year to me. Don't get me wrong, I'm very thankful for the slow down after all the hustle & bustle of the holidays, but my boys get antsy quickly during the short days of winter. Even though our winter has been very mild this year, and we've had a lot of beautiful days, during the week with school and work, it just doesn't leave us much time in the evenings to get out. Needless to say, we love the weekends, but haven't been up to much lately. That's why this little journal of mine for the boys has been quite dry lately.

I was going through the few new pics on my phone, and found these I forgot that I saved from my niece's Snapchat.  It was during Christmas break while she & her mama were visiting.  She, Jubal, Gentry, & I were huddled up in the living room watching scary movies.  I didn't know she was snapping these, but I caught myself smiling when I found them.

The boys literally cry to go to work with me on Saturdays.  Sometimes, even Larson tags along since it's hard to keep up with both of them while trying to do my job, too.  This particular Saturday, Jubal came with me.  My boss, Scott, was playing around with him, and put him in "tire timeout".  Of course, Jubal thought it was awesome.  Ha!

People are always telling us that Jubal looks just like Larson, and Gentry is a little Shae.  I do think Gentry looks more like me, but Larson definitely can't say either of these boys aren't his.  I did a comparison of them when they were all about the same age.  They both look so much like him. :)

Gentry wanted their little recliner brought into the living room the other night.  As I sat and watched him while he was watching TV, I glanced over at Jubal snuggled up right next to me playing on his tablet and thought to myself how these boys have no idea how good they have it made right now.  Absolutely no worries in this world, as it should be.  I sure wish I could go back, but I'm a lucky woman to have all I have in this life.  Sometimes I forget to be grateful, but quiet moments like these remind of how blessed I truly am.

It won't be long and a new season will be upon us.  The pace will pick back up, and I'll be wishing for some peace.  So, as of right now, I'm soaking up the boring days of January.  I sure am looking forward to spring, though. ;)

Jurassic Quest

We had the opportunity to take the boys to an animatronic dinosaur exhibit in Savannah over the weekend.  We bought the tickets several weeks in advance, and the boys looked forward to it very much.  Even though they had fun, they didn't get to do any of the VIP activities that we paid extra for because the lines had up to FOUR hours waiting time.

They did get to jump on a couple of the bouncy houses, after waiting in line for 30 minutes, for exactly TWO minutes before having to get off so the lines could "move along".  They never got to participate in the Walking Dinosaur exhibit, had to sit on Larson's shoulders just to catch a glimpse of the Baby Dinosaur show, and never got to do the Fossil Dig.  These were all activities that we paid extra for.

They did manage to get their faces painted after waiting 1 1/2 hours, and $20.00 more since this particular activity wasn't included in the VIP pass.  It was ridiculous, really.  I was very disappointed, but other than the boys being upset that they didn't get to do the fossil dig, they seemed to be satisfied.  After being there from 11:30-4, they were as ready to go as we were.

We actually enjoyed just hanging out by the river more than we did the show.  Fresh air, plenty of room to run, and lots of birds to feed.

The highlight of their day was that we got to meet up with their friend, Gwen & her mom.   As long as the boys were happy, so was I.

Our Year~2016

Every year for the past couple of years I have created a little Flipagram video to sort of represent a year in our life. I enjoy being able to look back on these videos and see how much my babies have grown, and be reminded of just plain old ordinary days of our lives. After all, those days are what I will miss the most one day when my boys are grown.

 Here's to 2016.

Happy New Year
Welcome 2017!!
