Time Out

I have to document this!

Gentry got his little self put in time out at daycare today.  Ha!  It's not really funny, but if you know Gentry's heart, you will know he had to be hating life right about then.  His heart breaks from being scolded.  He hates getting in trouble, but just like every other two, almost three year old little boy (I'm assuming), he tends to get into mischief  from time to time.

Then I got this picture today, too.  This is his famous "say cheese" face.  Also, note the too short haircut I let his daddy talk me into.  I won't make that mistake again.  I like his hair a little longer on top and over his ears.  I can't make this style he has now sweep across his forehead.  He looks better with the old Bieber hair style.

I don't let Gentry's get as long over his ears, but I like the extra length on top, and the thickness over his ears better than it is now.  Thankfully, hair grows back. :)

Plans

Sometimes things don't go as planned. We had planned on attending the Rattlesnake Festival last Saturday. That didn't work out due to rain. Then, we had planned on taking the boys on our annual zoo trip this past Sunday. Again, rain. Ugh!

The boys are understanding, though.  We are going to take them to the zoo this Sunday instead since the weather is looking good for the weekend.  The nearest zoo to us is in Jacksonville Florida, so we don't get to go often.  Thankfully, I have several friends that live in Jacksonville that give me a heads up about the weather before we go so we don't waste our time making the trip.

Anyway, we've just been keeping low profiles the past couple of weeks/weekends.  Not much to report.  I do have some pictures Mrs. Diane sent me of the boys.  They are on separate playgrounds at the daycare, but not even a fence can keep my boys apart.

Mrs. Diane said they would race the length of the fence.  After winning every race several times in a row, she said Jubal told her, "Maybe I need to let him win once."  Good big brother. :)

Jubal had his spring school pictures made today which meant we had to get an emergency hair cut last night. It was too long to spike up in the front anymore and he wanted his hair spiked for his new pictures.  Mrs. Rachel always fits us in, though, thankfully.  She cut Gentry's, too, but I'm a little upset that I let Larson talk me into cutting it shorter than usual.  I like Gentry's hair a little longer.  It fits him (and his head shape) better.

He was definitely ready for picture taking this morning in the drop-off line.  I told him to show me how he was going to smile, and this is what I got...

We came to an agreement on the white polo shirt.  He was adamant about wearing blue, but all I had for him in any shade of blue was pullover shirts and I wanted him to wear a polo for the picture.  His daddy convinced him that white was a "power color".  Jubal just believes that it will make him strong.  Ha!

Maybe the pictures will turn out good.  I hope so.  In every other picture he has had taken this school year, he looked a little scared.  Hopefully, he will feel fearless in his powerful white shirt. ;)

Riding Dirt Roads

We enjoy going for rides in Pappaw's truck. He would be proud to know that his grandsons love that truck. We usually just take the truck for slow rides on old country dirt roads to look at the cows, or just to let the boys ride in the back. It's a treat for them. Anyone else remember riding in the back of your granddaddy or daddy's truck? I do. The most freeing feeling in the world. Fun, without doing really anything at all.

We like to ride.  Jubal got the most grand opportunity this week when we went for a ride.  His daddy let him drive.  Well, not really "drive", per se, but he got to steer the wheel.  I have to say he did a mighty fine job, too.  He may have needed a little help on the turns, but he did well on the curves, and especially the straightaways.  Makes a mama proud.  Makes for a proud daddy, too. :)

When we started out, the boys were in the back of the truck.  Jubal decided he wanted his daddy to go a little faster (like over 5 mph), so we told them they had to get up front for us to go any faster.  They agreed and both hopped in the front with us.  Jubal asked his daddy if he could drive, and Larson allowed him to.  I was a little anxious at first, but he surprised me.  Really.

Gentry seemed to enjoy it very much, too.  He liked getting to sit next to me without Jubal fighting with him to be by my side.

We didn't ride for long, but it was long enough for us to see an amazing sunset, and for Jubal & Gentry to both be satisfied.  I love these times with my boys.  I hope they become fond memories for them as well.

I'm also thankful to live in the country.  Slow.  No hurry.  Take me home, country (dirt) road. :)

Up To Nothing

As we are anxiously awaiting spring, we've been caught inside more days than not. It's been raining a lot lately, and after the rain, it's just cold & wet outside. Ugh! There have been a few days we were able to get out, and this past weekend was great. We even got to go to the park two days in a row.

We are excited about the next two weekends approaching.  This coming weekend is the Rattlesnake Roundup, where we'll be riding in the parade like we do every year.  The boys love it.  Then the following weekend is our annual zoo trip.

Other than that, not much has been going on.  I'll just share a few pictures today.

The boys were super excited to show me that they had cleaned their playroom.
Larson sent this picture to me while I was at work to show me what a good job they did.

Talk about some good sleep.
Jubal was snoozing on my shoulder, so I had to capture his sweet little face.

Mrs. Diane still sends me pictures occasionally.
Jubal still goes to the daycare after school until we get off of work.

Mrs. Mandy will sometimes send me pics of Gentry during the day at daycare.
Here he is at lunch with a ketchup nose & milk mustache. :)

Both of my filthy little boys brought me flowers.

We finally got a day at the park.
Gentry was napping & Jubal was going stir crazy for someone to
play with/something to do, so we called his friend to come
over & I took them to the park.
Larson & Gentry called when they woke up from their nap,
so we went & picked them up,
then went back for awhile longer so Gentry could play.
We're definitely loving the extra hour of daylight.

Since Jubal didn't get a nap, but Gentry did, Jubal was asleep by 6:30 and slept through
the night without even waking up to go to the bathroom.
He was  a tired little boy.
Play hard, sleep harder. ;)

That about sums up our last couple of days/week.  Like I said, we haven't been up to much.  Just enjoying our little life together.  Looking forward to longer days and warmer weather.
