K-3 School Days

It's so hard to imagine that in May of next year, just nine short months from now, I will be registering Jubal for K-4 (like, real real school!).  I'm excited for him, yet scared at the same time. I just don't know how I'm going to handle it.

As for now, though, he is in the K-3 program at GCA.  He's in Mrs. Diane Love's class.  He loves her and she loves him.  He's come a long way in the 3-4 weeks he's been in there, too.  I was having trouble with keeping him in big boy underwear because he would not go poop in the potty.  Now, he is in big boy underwear full-time and doing great!

Mrs. Diane let's me know how he's doing throughout the day which makes me incredibly happy.  I get to see pictures of him learning and enjoying his time at school.  I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that both of my boys are cared for while I'm working.  I could not have asked for better people to love my babies for me during the day until I get back home to them. :)

Finally...He Walks!

On July 20, as I was getting ready to go out with Larson for the first time {alone} in over three years, our sweet Gentry decided to finally take off walking.  Yay!

Fourth of July

We seriously thought he would be walking way before now since he's been pulling up and walking while holding on to something since he was about 9 months old.  Jubal started walking the day he turned 13 months old and we just knew Gentry would walk before he did.

Gentry & Jayla

Gentry fooled us.  He didn't start walking until he was 13 months, 1 week, and 5 days old, but at least he's finally walking.  We're so proud of our little independent walker.  I imagine in about 2 more weeks he'll be over the wobbling and fast for sure.

Look out world, Gentry Slade is on the move!!! ;)

The Boys' First Beach Trip

For us to live so close to the beach, you would think we would have at least taken Jubal before now, but we actually prefer a nice, crystal blue pool to the salty ocean. We also enjoy taking it easy at the river, too.

We did make it to the beach for the first time this summer, though, on July 6 with our friends and their kids. Jubal & Gentry both enjoyed it pretty much. Gentry liked digging in the sand the most. Jubal liked jumping waves with his daddy & I. I think we will continue our impromptu trips to Carter's Bight instead of driving an hour and then walking a mile to get to the beach, though.

Here are some pictures to commemorate Jubal & Gentry's first trip to the beach. :)

Gentry was mad because Jubal sat in his chair. Ha!

I love this pic of my baby!

Gentry was thirsty, too.

Jubal had a great time covering Michelle with wet sand.

We made an entire day out of it, so we were all good & tired when we got home that evening.  We unpacked the vehicles and went home, got showers, and got some sleep.

We may make another trip to the beach this summer.  It's just a whole lot of work when you have 6 kids in tow.  Maybe Larson & I will just go with the boys one day.  We'll see.

Birthday Party #3

We had big plans for Jubal's 3rd birthday party. Sometimes things don't quite go as planned, though, and we have to improvise.

Our plans were to celebrate his birthday on Saturday at Splash 'N the Boro.  We were going to spend the entire day at the water park and then come home and have cake & ice cream.  I was going to have him a Ninja Turtles cake made, too.

Turns out, it rained (stormed, thanks to it being hurricane season) for TWO solid weeks here.  I waited until Saturday morning to see what the weather was going to be like before I decided we better make other plans.  Quickly.

So, we ended up with just a plain ol' cake from a local grocery store and had his party at CiCi's Pizza so all the kids could run around and play, everyone could eat all they wanted, and I didn't have to clean up anything.  Yes!  We did have Ninja Turtle plates & napkins, at least. :)

Jubal enjoyed himself, playing with all of his friends, eating pizza, cake, and ice cream, and that's all that matters to me.  I found out that he doesn't really care what kind of cake he has or if there are lots of people at the party.  What matters to him is that everyone was happy and laughing and having fun and he was the center of attention.

We actually began celebrating his life Friday morning (his actual birthday) when we woke him up singing "Happy Birthday" and showering him with hugs & kisses.  He enjoyed spending the day with his daddy since I had to work on Friday.  I got him some cupcakes and he got to have one for breakfast.  Hey...it's his birthday. ;)

Also, on Sunday, our friends, Adam & Michelle, had a little cookout and put up the water slide for all the kids to play on.  It was another fun-filled day with his friends, so he couldn't have been happier.

He was able to do everything he enjoyed for the whole weekend, so maybe things turned out just like they were supposed to after all.

I didn't get very many pictures at all, but my friend, Amanda, took a few with her phone while we were singing "Happy Birthday" to him at his party.  I took a couple of him with his daddy and that's about it.  Bad mama!

Three Year Stats

Jubal had his 3 year well check yesterday.  He hasn't grown much, bless his heart.  He weighs in at 29 1/2 lbs., which is in the 25th percentile and he is 35 1/2 inches tall, which is in the 10th percentile.  His proportions height-to-weight are fine.  His pediatrician says he just got his daddy's genes.  We've always known that, though. :)

Here's some recent pics of my now three year old little man.
