Back To School~2017

The boys had their first day back to school yesterday.
We went to meet their teachers and see where their new classrooms were going to be last Thursday.

Gentry, my kindergartner, has Mrs. Waters, just like Jubal did.
I requested her, and I'm so thankful he got her.
So, we are familiar with her and where her classroom is located.
Gentry will excel this year, I'm sure, because she is an awesome teacher.

Another thing that makes us happy is he has lots of his friends in his class this year, too.
Hadley & Clara Jane may end up squabbling over who is Gentry's girlfriend,
but I think they will all survive. ;)

After orientation, we went to get Jubal's hair cut and Gentry's trimmed up over his ears.
I'm so happy Gentry's hair is growing back out, so no major cut for him.
Jubal looks handsome as ever again, though.

We tried talking the boys into going to a movie or the trampoline park over the weekend.
They chose to have friends over instead, though.
Miles came to play the PS4 with Jubal, and Zakari came to hang out with Gentry.
They had a good day with their buddies anyway.
No big hoorah before school started back, but they got what they asked for.

I had my friend, Christie, make the boys each a cute t-shirt to wear on the first day.
Gentry wore his proudly, but Jubal was not having anything to do with it.
I guess he's at the age now where he likes to decide what he will wear.
No more having shirts made for him.
Guess those days are gone. :(

I did make him let me get a picture of him in it.
You can tell he wasn't happy & I was forcing him to smile.

I let him change into his pick after this picture.
Can you tell the difference in his smile?

I absolutely love Gentry's shirt.
His teacher loved it, too.
He's my little heart breaker.

They both said they had a great first day.
I could tell Gentry loved it just by the look on his face.
He was so excited telling me about it.

Jubal seemed to enjoy his new 2nd grade teachers.
He has two teachers this year since they switch classes mid-day.
Ms. Dreggors has him for homeroom, Math & Social Studies.
Ms. Hunter has him for Reading & Science.
He then has an art class & PE.
He likes getting to go to different classes during the day.

I'm praying they both have an awesome year.
I'm so proud of my big boys!

July

July was a busy month.
I figured I would just wrap up the whole month with this post.
Most of it was spent in the water, so we have lots of pictures at the river & pool.

First up, however, I want to show you Gentry's new hair cut.
He's been asking for a "spiked" cut for awhile, so I figured we would try it.
Thankfully, it's almost grown back out before school starts next Monday.

Don't get me wrong, it's a very cute cut,
I just prefer my boy to have his hair like the picture on the left.
He looks too "growny" in the pic on the right.
Plus, we've never spiked it again since the day he got it cut.
My boys are on the go too much to slow down for you to fix their hair.

The boys got to take their first ride on a jet ski this summer.
This is something we will probably invest in when they're a little bit older.
As much time as we spend in and around water, this would be an asset.
I don't want to get one until they are old enough to ride on their own.
Their daddy wouldn't mind riding them around, but this mama doesn't ride.

Palm Beach Island.
This is one of our favorite places to go.
Clean, convenient, no minnows nibbling on your toes, & no sharks to worry about.
The boys love jumping off of the 10 ft. diving board.
You can walk across the entire pond, except in the deeper areas made for diving.
The water is never freezing cold, either.
They have a food hut, and play music all day long, so you don't have
to haul a bunch of stuff with you when you go.
We will be going back one more time before they close for the season.
So much fun!

This is what happens after a day well spent at PBI.
This is before I even got pulled out onto the highway as we were leaving.

This was another fun day at the river.
My friend, Arlyn's brother, Jessie, gave the boys lots of fun rides.
We grilled, chatted with great friends, and just enjoyed the day.
Nothing better than a relaxing day in the water.

The boys had a great time playing with their cousin, Colton.
This is silly Jubal in the mask. :)

Nothing like a boy and his trucks.

We love to go to Shane & Julie's to swim.
The boys love the diving board & the slide.
Gentry was able to enjoy both since he can "officially" swim this summer.
Jubal practiced his back dive/flip until he was frustrated.
Maybe next year, big guy.

All in all, it was a super fun month.
I enjoyed my ten days of vacation with my boys.
I think "staycations" are my jam.

Now, we're preparing for the first day of school.
We get to meet the teachers & visit the boys' new classrooms Thursday.
I'm excited for them.

Goodbye, summer vacation.
Until next year...
