Six Month Checkup

We went for your six month checkup & shots yesterday. You are getting to be such a big boy!

The nurse called us back & you were weighed, you height was measured, your head was measured, and your temperature was taken.

Your daddy & I had guessed how much we thought you weighed before we got there.  I said 17 lbs. 13 ozs. and your daddy said 18 lbs. 3 ozs. I was "closer without going over"!!!
Your new stats are:

You now weigh: 17 lbs. 14 ozs.-50th percentile
You are 27 inches tall-50th percentile
Your head is 17 inches round-25th percentile, which means your head is a little on the small side, but we sure can't tell.
Your pediatrician said not to worry because you have no teeth yet. They will come.
He told me there was no need to boil your water anymore, but I think I will for awhile longer. I just don't believe in bottled or faucet water. I want to make sure the water that you drink is "Mommy sterile"!
We've moved you up to Stage 2 foods.

You didn't do as well at this visit as you have before. You're getting older & you don't like being held down, much less stuck 4 times.

Thankfully, Daddy was with us this visit, so he was able to console you since Mommy was crying herself. You wouldn't even let us sit you back down on the table to dress you. You screamed as if you thought we were about to stick more needles in your little legs. My poor baby!

We got you home and changed & gave you a little Tylenol. You were fine after that.
I took a couple of pics of your chubby little legs.

We have to go back in February to get your second flu shot, but after that you won't have to get anymore shots until you are one year old. I know you're happy about that, because I sure am!
Mommy & Daddy love you, sweet angel! I can't believe you're growing up so fast.

Love,
Mommy

Over the weekend

We didn't do a whole lot this weekend. We had dinner with my mama at her house Friday evening, and said we were going to go home & watch a movie. That idea went right out the window as soon as we got into our jammies and got comfy. Can you say sleep?? Ahhhh! I think Larson & Jubal were asleep before I even finished changing my clothes. Ha!

My sister-in-law came to visit from Mississippi and we got to see her Saturday afternoon. She stayed for dinner & we had some Chinese takeout. Jubal really enjoyed spending time with his "Aunt Nannaw". We decided that would be what he called her because her grandchildren call her Nannaw & Alannah calls her Aunt Marianne, so we just combined it to give her a cute little name.

We went to church Sunday and had lunch with my mama. We went out to Tyson to visit with Larson's family so Jubal could spend some time with his Granny (Larson's mom) and his Papa & Mema (Larson's dad and stepmom). It was a beautiful day Sunday. Jubal was able to spend a few minutes outside in the sunshine, which was nice.
Other than that, that's about all we done over the entire weekend. We got our baths and got ready for bed & finally watched a movie. I can't tell you how it ended, though....oh, sweet sleep! Ha!

Voices

This is another one of my favorite songs. I am so thankful for all the voices I have in my head! God placed me with the BEST earthly family! I can't thank Him enough for the life He has blessed me with. We weren't rich, but we had all we needed... and there was always a whole lotta love!

I hope that when you grow up, you will be thankful He gave you to your daddy & I. We love you with all of our hearts! Hopefully one day you'll hear voices, too!

6 Months Old~My Oh My! How Time Flies!

My sweet, sweet baby boy. You are now 1/2 a year old. Where does the time go? I don't know exactly how much you weigh or your height right now, but we will find out this coming Monday at your 6 month visit. I'm guessing you weigh close to 18 lbs. now. Your chubby little legs are short just like your daddy's...bless you!!! Mammaw got you a walker for Christmas, but your feet still won't touch even on the lowest setting. As a matter of fact, the only thing your feet will touch the floor in is your jumper, and that's only because your weight pulls you down closer to the floor. Ha! That doesn't mean you don't enjoy sitting in all your many "playstations" as I like to call them. That makes me think...I need to get a picture of you in each of them.

Anyway...back to your 6 month birthday news.

You have started doing a few new things this month. You have definetly found your toes! You play with them all the time. You have also started sucking on your bottom lip a lot, too.

I snuck up on you & startled you, as you can clearly see!

That didn't stop you from grabbing both feet, though.

Sucking on that bottom lip!

...and again!

Your eating schedule:
Breakfast
4 tbsp. rice cereal w/ 1/2 a serving (stage 1) fruit mixed in
Lunch
One serving (stage 1) veggie or one serving (stage 2) of green beans or peas
One serving (stage 1) fruit
Dinner
Same as lunch
You like ALL veggies & ALL fruits. Your favorite veggie is green beans & your favorite fruit is pears. Thank goodness you're not a picky eater!! However, bananas do cause you to have extra BMs so we've decided to hold off awhile longer on those.
You are only taking 3-6 oz. bottles a day now. You do have a fourth bottle that you usually go to sleep taking.

You continue to sleep as well as you have since day one, which is awesome! I don't mind that you stay up with us until usually 9:30 because we don't get home from work until 6:30, so that gives us some time with you. You sleep until we get up for work & would sleep longer if you could. You've started becoming sort of a lil grouch when we wake you in the mornings. Ha!

You still wear a size 2 diaper. Your clothes are mainly 3-6 months, although you do wear some 6-9 months, depending on what kind of outfit it is. You can even still wear some of your 0-3 months pants!

Your hair is beginning to thicken. It's a little lighter color than it was when you were born. We laugh because you still have a lot of your newborn hair & there's this one, single, solitary hair right in the front that is waayy longer than the rest & likes to stand straight up. We call it your "Who" hair, like off the Grinch That Stole Christmas. Ha!

You laugh a lot and it pleases me so much that you are a happy baby. It makes me feel like we're doing something right. I'd climb mountains for you, boy! Just to make sure you ARE happy.

You grunt when you want something really bad. It's funny! It's like your trying to tell us what you want in your own little language. You sure do sound demanding. Ha!

*Excuse my silly giggles & the huge dip in Larson's mouth!

Here are a few pics I took on your big six months birthday.

This one has to be my favorite, though. See how demanding you look...

I love you, my sweet baby boy. I still thank God several times a day for blessing me with such a happy, healthy child. I've thoroughly enjoyed being your mommy for these 6 months & look forward to taking care of your children someday.

Love,
Mommy

Just some pics...

These are just some pictures that I took when he woke up from a nap, while Larson was running their bath water. I love pictures!!!

Bless him! He woke up to a camera in his face!

Ha! This sleepy smile is too cute.

He thinks Mommy's silly!

Ok, woman! Enough is enough!!

Sweet boy

He was coming for me!

My big ol' blue-eyed boy

I knew there was another smile in there somewhere.

His daddy was standing behind me & he was watching him.

Chunky Monkey

Love those chubby thighs!

This is his "Playbaby" pose!

I had to get a couple of shots in the bath. He loves bathtime. He loves the water. I know when he can sit up by himself he will really love bathtime. Right now, though, we still use his little tub in our big tub. Bathtime is his & Daddy's time. Can you believe I have NEVER given my little boy a bath? Nope, sure haven't!

These pictures made me go back & look at pictures of him when he was smaller at bathtime...
His very first tub bath~14 days old. He barely takes up any of the bath chair...

...and @ 2 months. Ha! Time to get rid of the chair & get a little tub.

He's growing up too fast!

Our First New Year as a Family

We didn't really do anything big this year for New Year's Eve. It was warmer weather for this time of year, so we put Jubal in long sleeves & a hood and went out to Larson's sister's house to an oyster roast. They had a fire built in the fire barrel and had the oysters roasting!

We had three bushels of oysters!

I couldn't get him to take his eyes off the oysters ha!

I wonder if Jubal will like oysters when he gets older. He'll definetly be at his share of roasts because that's one of our favorite family activities during the cooler months. Anyway, we hung out with Larson's family for awhile & enjoyed A LOT of oysters. Thank goodness Larson shucks mine!

Larson, Jubal, & the sisters. Larson's going to get me for putting this pic on here because the flash got him & he's making this funny face.

After we left Larson's family, we went to my mama's house. It's a tradition at her house to have lots of finger foods & punch and we watch the ball drop. We didn't make it to see that, though. We went home around 11:15 and put our jammies on and snuggled up to watch it drop...but, the only thing we saw drop was our eyelids! Our {thoughtful} neighbors reminded us it was midnight by setting off all kinds of fireworks, though. We thought our home was being bombed! Ha!! At least they woke us up long enough to get our New Year's kiss in, which was nice. :)

This New Year's Day was wonderful! The weather was gorgeous. It was sunny and 72 degrees. I got a pork roast and we cooked it in the crockpot overnight. I made black-eyed peas & rice, collard greens, and cornbread. Before we left to go to my mama's to eat lunch, we all sat out on the back deck and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

I love this picture!

I  have to include these next pics & the video. After enjoying the sunshine, we went inside and Larson & Jubal played while I got dressed. Jubal loves to kiss the baby (his reflection) in the mirror so I thought I would video it & post it, too.

We did make it to my mama's to have lunch. The roast just fell off the bone, it was so tender. I hope that eating the black-eyed peas & collards will bring us lots of luck and maybe some extra money. If not, we'll still be okay because we have each other. ;)
We hope that you all have a Happy New Year!!!
