We had big plans for Jubal's 3rd birthday party. Sometimes things don't quite go as planned, though, and we have to improvise.
Our plans were to celebrate his birthday on Saturday at Splash 'N the Boro. We were going to spend the entire day at the water park and then come home and have cake & ice cream. I was going to have him a Ninja Turtles cake made, too.
Turns out, it rained (stormed, thanks to it being hurricane season) for TWO solid weeks here. I waited until Saturday morning to see what the weather was going to be like before I decided we better make other plans. Quickly.
So, we ended up with just a plain ol' cake from a local grocery store and had his party at CiCi's Pizza so all the kids could run around and play, everyone could eat all they wanted, and I didn't have to clean up
anything. Yes! We did have Ninja Turtle plates & napkins, at least. :)
Jubal enjoyed himself, playing with all of his friends, eating pizza, cake, and ice cream, and that's all that matters to me. I found out that he doesn't really care what kind of cake he has or if there are lots of people at the party. What matters to him is that everyone was happy and laughing and having fun and
he was the center of attention.
We actually began celebrating his life Friday morning (his actual birthday) when we woke him up singing "Happy Birthday" and showering him with hugs & kisses. He enjoyed spending the day with his daddy since I had to work on Friday. I got him some cupcakes and he got to have one for breakfast. Hey...it's his birthday. ;)
Also, on Sunday, our friends, Adam & Michelle, had a little cookout and put up the water slide for all the kids to play on. It was another fun-filled day with his friends, so he couldn't have been happier.
He was able to do everything he enjoyed for the whole weekend, so maybe things turned out just like they were supposed to after all.
I didn't get very many pictures at all, but my friend, Amanda, took a few with her phone while we were singing "Happy Birthday" to him at his party. I took a couple of him with his daddy and that's about it. Bad mama!
