Weekends 'Round Here

I should have posted this already, but time has yet again gotten away from me.

Weekend before last, the boys had to stay with my BFF, Darla, on Saturday since Larson & I both had to work.  Larson usually has them on Saturdays while I work.  My boys don't stay with "sitters".  If I can't find anyone in the family to keep them, then they won't be left.  Period.

Anyway, Darla likes to work in her yard.  That's one of her favorite things to do.  She said she walked outside with her gloves on to do some work and Jubal asked could he help.  She was so tickled because she doesn't get asked that often.  Ha!  So, she put the boys to work.  I got these pictures throughout the day.

She told me when I picked them up that Gentry was a "Hoss".
He loaded up several wagon-fulls of these bricks for her.
He, Jubal, & Olivia worked their little butts off.

They got to play in the mud, too.
Darla put them in a storage tub to get them clean before
I got there so they would be clean enough to get in the car.

I'm so thankful for my BFF, and so thankful my boys got to
spend the day with her & her family.

Later that day, we were getting ready to go to my other BFF's birthday party at the river landing.  We took our boys with us, and we all had such a good time.  Shawnya's party turned out great, and we ended up staying until almost 10:00, which is late for us.  Ha!

Me, Shawnya, Tiffany, & Carolyn

A pic of my sweet Gentry that Rebecca captured.

Jubal had a blast playing with Gentry, and the one other child that was actually there.

Poor fella was tired from dancing & playing his little heart out.

Sunday morning was very laid back for us.  We slept until we were ready to wake up.  No alarm clocks, and the boys slept late as well.  Larson got in the kitchen and cooked us some breakfast while the boys played on the iPad, and I was able to enjoy an easy Sunday morning.

And that, my friends, is how we do weekends around our house.  I love a good, lazy weekend. :)

K-3 With Gentry

Gentry has gotten moved up into the K-3 class at his little school! I'm so proud for him because now he will really begin to flourish. He has Mrs. Diane as his teacher, and I know she will teach him all kinds of fun & interesting things. :)

Just like when Jubal was in her class, and I would get pictures of him, I get pictures throughout the day of Gentry now.  This makes me very happy!!  I love seeing what my boy's day consists of when I can't be with him.  He has already excelled at coloring inside the lines, making crafts, and he's learning to play in centers.

He's also graduated from needing the stool to go to the potty.  It's only been two weeks and he's making progress in leaps & bounds already.  I'm so proud!

Jubal still has a cubby for the afternoons when he comes
in from school, so they share it now. :)

One of his first coloring projects.
It now hangs on our fridge.:)
Before this, I would only get coloring sheets that he
had colored with scribbles all over them.
He is so proud of himself now.

They still get so excited to see each other after school each day.

Mrs. Diane had went to BK over the weekend, and
she brought all the kiddos crowns.

Playing in centers, and one of his favorites is the little toy animals.

So proud of his rooster!
He named it Rusty. ;)

Going to the potty like a BOSS!!

This picture is so precious to me.
I always want my boys to know the importance of prayer.
I love that my boy is leading the blessing of the food.
He's growing into such a little man. :)

I can't wait to write an update on how this is going later on.  He is doing so well, even though he's had a few issues with wanting to be with his friends in the two year old class.  He just misses his best buddy, Greyson. Mrs. Diane took him to visit them the other day.  She is making the transition easier for him, and I appreciate that so much since Gentry is a little more laid back than Jubal, and it takes him longer to feel secure.

He's becoming a big boy, though, and I couldn't be more proud. :)

Jubal's Spring School Pics

Jubal had his spring pictures taken at school a few weeks back. They turned out really cute. He actually gave a semi "real" smile in this one, versus his fall pics.  He had a frightened smile on his face in his fall pictures, so I'm satisfied with these. :)

This reminds me that I need to post his other pictures.  I need to post his fall pictures, and his picture he had made with my mama, his mammaw, for Grandparent's Day at school.  I can't believe I never posted them.

I'll be sure to get right on that.  Soon...

Like right now.

These pictures are actually iPhone pics of the pictures.  His fall picture is even just a proof.  I did order packages of these pictures.  I have yet to hang any of them up, though.  No worries.  My walls are covered with all kinds of pictures of both of my boys.  I have a love affair with canvases. ;)

I love this picture of him & my mama.

Doesn't he look a little scared to you? Ha!

Gone Fishin'

We have some little fishermen on our hands. Jubal may not catch anything with his rod & reel, but he can sure cast it. He can reel one in, too. Gentry does better with a cane pole. He can pull one in after it's been hooked. I feel like there's nothing more relaxing than taking them fishing. For me, of course, because Daddy is the one baiting hooks and taking the fish off the lines. :)

We have some dear friends that own these ponds, and they are very kind to let us come out there and fish anytime we ask.  The boys love it, and it gives us all something fun to do as a family.

Their grandchildren are usually at their house, and they come out and help the boys catch fish, too.  Gentry doesn't like to touch the fish.  He just likes to "hold the string".

And that, my friend, is how we catch a mess of fish 'round here. ;)

Easter Festivities

We had a fun Easter weekend. Jubal's began on Friday when he got to go on a field trip with his class at school. They went to the recreation department for an egg hunt, and he had so much fun. Yet again, I was unable to attend due to work, but thankfully I have mom friends who look out for him & me, and always send me pictures. :)

Jubal & his buddy, Garrett

He had some of the moms a little worried by climbing to the top of what we call the "eagle's nest".  I had one mom message me saying that she had told Jubal to be careful, and he just said, "I got this!", and continued to swing down and climb back up again.  Ha!

I assured her that he did, indeed, have this.  That is his favorite thing to do when we go to the park.  Both of my boys are climbers.

Although I filled 64 plastic eggs with candy, we also dyed some real eggs Saturday night for our egg hunt on Sunday.  Gentry was too busy playing with his Legos and watching Bubble Guppies to help, but Jubal & I had a great time.  He is old enough now that all I basically had to do was supervise.  He did most of it all by himself. :)

He wanted to draw smiley faces on all the eggs. :)

Later that night, I prepared their baskets for the Easter Bunny to deliver the next morning.  I don't know how everyone else does the Easter Bunny, but ours knocks on the front door, and the boys try to be quick enough to answer the door that they get to see the bunny before he hops away.  They didn't make it this year, but the bunny left them some goodies on the porch anyway. ;)

The next morning, before the Easter Bunny even brought them these, GiGi & Laney had left them two new Easter basket's on the back of our car since it was late when they came by the night before, and we were already asleep.  Jubal got a TMNT basket, and Gentry got a Spiderman basket.  Both basket were filled with goodies for the boys.  They loved them!

**********

Sunday, Easter, we had our families over for a big lunch, and the egg hunt.  My mama, sister, and niece came, and Larson's mama, sister, brother-in-law, and nephew came.  We enjoyed each other's company, filled our bellies full, and watched as the kids all hunted for the eggs Larson & Scotty hid.  They had so much fun.

I didn't get any pictures, but my sister took a few, thankfully.  She also got a few of Jubal & Alannah when they went to my mama's to get a change of clothes.

All in all it was a pretty good weekend.  We really had a good time Sunday with our family being together at our house.  You can bet by bed time we were all give out.  It sure didn't take us long to get baths and get in bed.

I'm so thankful for this time with all of our family.  I hope my boys have happy memories of these days the same way I remember my childhood fondly.

***Side note:  I tried to video the boys running to the door to see the Easter bunny and get their baskets, but Larson's phone was too full and it cut off without recording/saving any of the video I did get. :(
