My poor little fella had his first fever yesterday. He's been congested for most of the week, but didn't seem to feel bad. Yesterday when we got home from work and got to my mom's to pick him up, he had some fever and was acting so not like himself.
If you know us, then you know Jubal is such a happy baby all of the time. He has so much energy. He wasn't whiny, you could just tell in his eyes he felt horribly. So, I decided that since this was his very first time being sick with a fever, I should take him to the ER just to have him checked out.
The doc told us he has an upper respiratory infection, which he said was viral, so he didn't give us any antibiotics. He told us just to give him tylenol/motrin and keep the vaporizers going. He said his lungs were clear and his ears, nose, & throat all looked good.
I asked if he needed anything to help with his awful cough and the doc told me he didn't want to suppress it because as long as he was coughing, there was a less likely chance it could turn into anything worse, such as pneumonia. He also said the fever was a sign that Jubal's body was doing what it should to fight the virus.
So, we're going to ride this one out just like the doc prescribed for us. Jubal ran fever throughout the night, though it broke eventually each time. He feels so bad, though. I guess I'm like every other mommy...I just want to take it from him or snap my fingers or wiggle my nose and make him better...Now!
He still has his beautiful smile even though he feels bad. Hopefully nothing will ever take that from him.
***On a side note:***
I enjoy blog hopping. I'm currently "partying it up" with the UBP2011. You should check it out.
Also, Susie B. Homemaker is hosting a smaller, more personal blog hop. Go check her out, as well.
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!
